A boss’ dog: Very dangerous game.

This in other terms is referred to us ‘career suicide’ because it literary is. Normally there is believe in the corporate sector that for you to move up the ladder both economically and status, you have to be an office sucker: This is one guy who will always bend to the boss’ will whether he is commanded to step a leg into a burning fire. These people will always be in every office and believe it, if you have not gotten a job, you will get and see them.

You may think that you are doing yourself a very big favor by boot licking or tail wagging but the opposite is a disservice you will rather pass. Have you ever thought of what will go wrong when you fall out with your boss?

Think about the number of people that depend on your job and if you lose it how they will suffer. You will realize that you spend too much time pleasing the boss whereas you should be spending that time doing something better for yourself or that can improve your status.

I know you have heard people grumble after a boss is fired possibly because he was favoring them and now that he is gone there chances of survival are minimal. These people will start looking for a new boss to please but there are bosses who notice it very fast. I am a boss in an office uptown so I know what I am saying. The modern HR managers know when someone is boot licking.

I will take a few minutes to tel you the problem with this kind of behavior:

1.   You will seem incompetent because were you sure of your job, you will not have insecurities of dismissal thus having someone to protect your job.

2.   If there is a fall out with your boss, the consequences are very dire and you won’t like to see them. This is the same as sleeping with your boss.

3.   If your boss gets fired or transferred like I said before, woe unto you, your career is gone to the dogs.

4.   You may be taken advantage of by your superiors because they know they can tell you to do anything even their own errands.

5.   You will isolate yourself from other staff in most cases because they will not want to associate with you or you will not want to associate with them.

6.   Office politics (I am not suggesting that this is good) may pass you by without any knowledge. Some positive office politics may be good for you to know.

You stand to lose a lot if you are the kind of people who are dogs of bosses. 

All you need to do is know your job and do it well, trust me that is it.

If you are an authority in your job, you don’t need protection from anyone.
