Wednesday, August 19, 2026 - At least 10 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to Gaza health officials.
Nine of the deaths occurred when an Israeli strike hit the municipal police headquarters in central Gaza City, with medical officials reporting that a woman and a child were among those killed. At least 20 others were wounded in the Gaza City attack.
The Israeli military said the Gaza City strike targeted a Hamas commander, while Palestinian health officials reported casualties among people at the police facility.
Another strike in central Gaza also caused deaths, bringing the reported toll from Wednesday's attacks to at least 10. The latest violence comes despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reinforcing a fragile ceasefire.
The renewed strikes are raising fresh fears that efforts to stabilize Gaza could collapse. The latest deaths come only days after U.S. officials intensified diplomatic efforts to advance a longer-term agreement, while fighting and military operations continue.
With civilians still facing displacement, limited medical services and severe humanitarian pressures, the new violence is adding urgency to calls for an immediate reduction in hostilities.
