Wednesday, August 25, 2026 - France is rallying Ukraine’s allies behind stronger military support as Russian attacks intensify and Kyiv faces growing pressure to strengthen its air defenses.
Leaders from the Coalition of the Willing gathered in Kyiv on August 24, with France, Britain and Germany among those pushing for faster weapons deliveries, tougher pressure on Moscow and continued support for Ukraine’s defense.
The immediate priority is air defense. French President Emmanuel Macron has backed faster deliveries of interceptor missiles, while Britain has agreed to share classified technology to help Ukraine and France expand production of Storm Shadow/SCALP long-range missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Kyiv faces a major funding gap and urgently needs additional Patriot systems as Russian missile and drone attacks continue.
The renewed European push signals that Ukraine’s allies are preparing for a prolonged confrontation with Russia while keeping pressure on Moscow for a ceasefire.
