King CHARLES' reaction to MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince HARRY's move back to the UK

Wednesday, August 19, 2026 - King Charles is reportedly welcoming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to move back to the United Kingdom with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The couple are expected to establish a private home in Britain this month, with their children due to start school in the UK in September. According to reports, Charles was informed of the move on August 16 and sees it as an opportunity to spend more time with his son and grandchildren in a private family setting.

The return, however, does not mean Harry and Meghan are rejoining the working royal family. Charles is reportedly clear that the Sussexes will remain private citizens and non-working royals, in line with the arrangement made when they stepped away from royal duties in 2020.

The move follows a significant private reunion at Highgrove in July, when Charles and Queen Camilla were believed to have spent time with Archie and Lilibet for the first time in more than four years.

For Charles, the development could represent an important opportunity to rebuild a strained family relationship while keeping royal duties and personal reconciliation separate. Harry and Meghan will reportedly retain their Montecito home and property in Portugal, meaning their UK return is not a complete relocation from their life overseas.

With the children now expected to spend more time in Britain, attention will turn to whether the move can bring the Sussexes closer to Charles without reopening the tensions that have divided the family for years.
