Friday, August 21, 2026 - Alexandra Palace has unveiled BBC TV 90 at Ally Pally, a major autumn programme marking 90 years since television broadcasting began from the iconic London venue.
The celebrations will run from September 18 to November 30, 2026, bringing together talks, screenings, performances, exhibitions and special events focused on the people and ideas that shaped television.
The programme is set to give visitors a fresh look at broadcasting's biggest milestones while highlighting voices that helped transform television.
Events will explore subjects including children's TV, women pioneers, education, LGBTQIA+ broadcasting and Black representation, alongside archive material, digital exhibitions and new creative productions from Alexandra Palace's learning teams.
The celebrations will build towards November 2, 2026, exactly 90 years after the first regular public high-definition BBC television service launched from Alexandra Palace.
A special World Origin Site plaque is due to be unveiled in the Palace's East Court, adding a major finale to what promises to be one of Ally Pally's biggest broadcasting celebrations yet.
